Doris Boyd Whitt
Doris Ann Boyd Whitt of Avon Park, Florida, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011. She was born on October 29, 1928 and was the eldest child of the late Den and Maude Reynolds Boyd of Raven, Virginia and she was the wife of the late Joseph D. "Bug" Whitt, formerly of Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Doris Ann was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1946.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of Avon Park, Florida; a member of the Credit Women International, Avon Park Garden Club, and Historical Society.
Survivors are: Daughter: Denise Knudston and husband, Ron of Sebring, Florida; Son: Charles "Chuck" Whitt and wife, Linda of Roanoke, Virginia Granddaughter: Whitney Mullins and husband, Chris of Christiansburg, Virginia; Grandsons: Jordan Meeks of Sebring, Florida; Jonathan Whitt of Roanoke, Virginia; and James Whitt and wife, Tanya of Gallatin, TN
Sister: Charlotte Compton of Longview, Texas; Brothers: James Boyd and wife, Sylvia of Doran, Virginia, Den "Dee" Boyd of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Sisters in Law: Mary Sue and Sandy Whitt of Richlands, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Doris Ann Boyd Whitt will be conducted Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Stafford Compton officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia with the Rev. James Brooks officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA is in charge of arrangements.
